It\u2019s just he loves reality TV.\r\n\r\n<strong>Kenneth:<\/strong> Yes.\r\n\r\n<strong>Mom:<\/strong> He wants me to sign him up for The Bachelor. He said he wants to give a bunch of girls roses.\r\n\r\n<strong>Kenneth:<\/strong> (their dog Buddy appears on the film and Kenny gently askes him to \u201cgo over there\u201d) That\u2019s my dog. I love my dog. My name is Kenneth Brookins and this is my mama Joyce.\r\n\r\n<strong>Mom:<\/strong> What does everybody call you?\r\n\r\n<strong>Kenneth:<\/strong> KJ! They call me KJ because that is my nickname! I\u2019m a good kid. I\u2019m funny to be around and I am a sweet kid.\r\n\r\n<strong>Mom:<\/strong> You know what? You\u2019re not a kid any more. You\u2019re a handsome young man!\r\n\r\n<strong>Kenneth:<\/strong> I\u2019m smart, I\u2019m funny. And I like to watch basketball. I like to do anything.\r\n\r\n<strong>Mom:<\/strong> Sign him up for The Bachelor!\r\n\r\n<strong>Kenneth:<\/strong> I got cerebral palsy. I can\u2019t walk. I need help to walk. I need help. I can do most of the stuff on my own.\r\n\r\n<strong>Mom:<\/strong> I had a severe case of pre-clampsia. So he was born at 28 weeks, and he stated at Children\u2019s Hospital NICU from January 24th until April 11th. He had air pockets in his brain which caused the motor skills. He\u2019s been in therapy since birth and in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy &#8211; everything. So he does need total assistance with going to the bathroom like transfers and bathing and stuff like that. But with all the therapy and through life, you know and occupational therapy he has been able to use thos skills but he still needs us to help him. So I really didn\u2019t start getting home health services until he graduated from high school. That transition when I was able to get home health care services was great. To know that he can be at home and he can still be able to do the things you know, he can still be safe and have a great time and still be in his own comfort zone. He is okay, he\u2019s fine.\r\n\r\nI\u2019ve had my current aide five years or longer.\r\n\r\n<strong>Kenneth:<\/strong> She\u2019s so sweet. We play games and watch movies. She buys me something to eat. She\u2019s just a sweet person.\r\n\r\n<strong>Mom:<\/strong> They\u2019re like family. That\u2019s the think I\u2019d like you to know. It\u2019s very hard to find people you can depend on and reliable, and that\u2019s in your home and you feel comfortable with your child.
